Timberline Kids Club Ski Lessons

Our favorite ski spot offers a fun ski school for your kiddos and a ticket to skiing freedom for you

Timberline Kids Club

OVERVIEW
Since Timberline is our main resort, Kids Club is our ski school for the littles. It took six lessons for our six-year-old to link turns, but having adult time to ride is just as huge.

A Break for Parents, Thrills for Kids

We adore our little ones, but every now and then, parents desperately need a few hours to ski like banshees rather than playing the role of ski instructors, foot warmers, and bickering sibling diffusers. The Timberline Kids Club steps in to save the day, giving you the freedom to enjoy a few laps, savor a leisurely lunch, hit the slopes once more, and even indulge in a well-deserved hot toddy before it's time for pickup at 3pm.

Designed for kids ages 4 to 12, the Timberline Kids Club caters to levels 1 through 3, helping little groms find their footing on skis or snowboards and then start making those exhilarating turns.

Positive and Patient Ski Coaching

The teachers we had last season, in four different full-day lessons here, each had their unique approach and style but shared one important trait in common: a positive and patient attitude. For kids just learning or attempting to master a more technical skill, this is everything. It means they don’t give up, it means they are gentle on themselves (because it’s hard work!), and it means they end the day ready to do it all again soon!

Our experience is that the ski instructors at Timberline Kids Club truly meet each kid where they are at. For Callen, they encouraged her desire to nail the impressive hockey stop through fun modeling and technical explaining. For our four-year-old, Willa, they cheered her on when all she wanted was to be “french-fry” girl and go fast! The teachers made learning in the snow feel safe and fun. Kids knew it was OK to fall on your face, because, well, you get to chew on a little snow and then just keep on going).

Packages to Suit Your Schedule and Budget

The Kids Club offers flexible scheduling with full-day and half-day packages to meet your family's needs. These safe and fun learning experiences are perfect for beginners in levels 1 through 3. The program operates on weekends and holidays from December 17th to April 9th, depending on snow conditions.

Prices vary based on age and package choice, currently ranging from $120 for a half-day to $180 for a full day. The full-day package includes lift tickets for the entire mountain, lessons, and a warm lunch for your little ones. If your kids need equipment, you can add rentals for $25.

More Ski Time, Less Worry

Consider the Kids Club as your ski babysitter, allowing you to enjoy up to six hours of laps before it's time for pickup.

Check-in time is between 8:30 am and 9:15 am, with on-hill classes running from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm (including a lunch break from 12 pm to 1 pm). Half-day checkout is at 12 pm, while full-day participants wrap up their adventures at 3 pm.

For those hitting a half day, Timberline Ski Area also has a covered magic carpet on its novice hill, an excellent feature for kids (and even grownups) who are just starting their skiing journey. Once the kids get the hang of lining up and hopping on the belt, they’ll be making laps and learning just as fast.

Reserve Your Kids' Ski Adventure

Let the Timberline Kids Club transform your family's ski day into a delightful adventure for everyone. Your kids will be getting a feel for the slopes and you'll be carving turns with peace of mind, all just 30 minutes from our cozy Mt. Hood Alpine Chalet.

(Most Importantly!) Celebrate the Day

After hours of fun and learning on the slopes, there are some non-negotiables for what happens next. Decide together as a family in the morning, so everyone has something to look forward to after the big day. For us this almost always looks like…

Reward Stop 1: Sharing the Mountainous Nachos at Y'Bar

Reward Stop 2: Lounging by the warm fire at Timberline Lodge to sip on Snow Cap Dream Hot Cocoas (for the kids) and a cold Ice Axe IPA by Mount Hood Brewing (for the parents)

Reward Stop 3: Relaxing in the bubbling hot tub under our skylight covered backyard patio at Mt. Hood Alpine Chalet
