Al Forno Ferruzza
Authentic Italian food made with local, organic ingredients, al Forno’s wood-fired Sicilian pizza is a favorite with locals and families. Grab a slice on your way home Mt Hood or order for delivery.
Wildwood Recreation Site
You wouldn't think that some of the best family hiking sits right off of Highway 26, but you'll become a believer once you step foot in the Wildwood Recreation Site. Accessible trails allow everyone to explore native flora and fauna, and a few underwater secrets that always excite our kids.
Phlox Point Cabin
The owners of Timberline Lodge renovated this former Boy Scout cabin into the perfect ski-in, ski-out locale for a midday taco break, a warming spell or a cold one. Maybe grab all three if you have time.
Koya Kitchen
Tucked into the woods off Highway 26, this tiny, Pan-Asian food cart kitchen serves up flavors that match its magical atmosphere. Grab bowls of salmon poke or yuzu-avocado fried rice and camp out awhile.
The Ratskeller
Our favorite spot for family-friendly après has a pizza-heavy menu, pinball, arcade and big-screen projector. Whether you’re coming from up mountain or jumping across from Ski Bowl, The Ratskeller is a perfect place to celebrate after skiing or snowboarding.
Skyway Bar and Grill
This community-centric, er eccentric, roadside attraction serves up Texas-style barbecue with a Pacific Northwest twist. It also spices things up with generous sides of live music, creative cocktails and quirkiness. It’s one of our family’s favorites, so check out why.
Mt. Hood Skibowl
Etched into the record books as “America’s Largest Night Ski Area.” Mt. Hood Skibowl offers advanced bowl terrain as well as beginner options off every lift. This is a great spot for families thanks to its longtime ski school and youth clubs plus fun adventures and good eats to be had. Favorites include Cosmic Tubing, Historic Warming Hut, 70 Meters Bar and Grill, and the Summer Adventure Park.
Timberline Kids Club Ski Lessons
Are you a powder-hungry parent itching to make the most of your ski day at Timberline Ski Area while ensuring your little ones have a blast getting more confident on the slopes? Whether it’s their first or fifth time on the mountain, look no further than Timberline Kids Club, a fantastic ski school program that’s just 30 minutes from our Mt. Hood Alpine Chalet.
Timberline Ski Area
Timberline boasts the longest ski season in North America and now claims the most vertical feet in the United States at 4,540’. This is a place where you can have fun, meet good people, find your terrain and ride long stretches. Timberline Ski Area is a quintessential Oregon experience, and it will always be our go-to spot for a day on the slopes.
Trillium Lake
Spend a summer afternoon at Trillium Lake. The water is clear and a comfortable temp to swim (for us PNW locals that is!). And however you plan to be in the water here—whether by tube, paddle board, kayak, canoe, or raft—the views of Mt. Hood are equally striking from all angles.
McNeil Point Hike
McNeil Point was recently ranked one of Oregon’s top ten hikes. It’s well-deserved, because almost every turn on the way up offers picture-perfect highlights. Read our Guidebook to see all the wildflowers, waterfalls and panoramas we found on our way up to Ho Rock.
Chicali Cantina
An absolute must stop for lunch, happy hour, or dinner. It is unassuming from the street but will blow your mind with the creative, flavorful, locally inspired food and drinks.
